Now with four locations across Palm Beach County, guests can still visit the original location, just half the size, on Clematis conveniently close to the Brightline train station.

At Blue Mountain Coffee House, owner Allison Boettcher serves single-origin coffee from the Blue Mountains of Jamaica alongside Jamaican-influenced lunch dishes and an extensive breakfast menu. This charming coffee shop and restaurant is located on the corner of Clematis Street and Rosemary Avenue.

With a unique interior that’s a cross between an Ikea cafeteria and the Mad Hatter’s tea party, Johan Joe’s has been serving Swedish fare in downtown Palm Beach since September 2015. Pop in for a latte and Swedish pancake served with homemade berry preserves.

This Miami phenomenon is a welcome addition to CityPlace, filling a hole in the market for great coffee and specialty doughnuts. Enjoy a perfectly crafted coffee in the tropical art deco interior, paired with a rotating menu of doughnut options.

One of the most popular new coffee shops in the downtown West Palm Beach area is also the location of the wholesale roasting operation for Pumphouse Coffee. Perch at the counter that runs along the old loading dock of this converted warehouse space while sipping on a mocha latte and watch the roasting operation in the open space below.

Owner Josh Korman’s move from the Warehouse District in May 2021 opened up a two-story space for his coffee creations and a space for Composition Coffee to evolve into its own identity. Now part of a series of repurposed warehouses called Industrial Alley, Composition Coffee serves up a strong cup of coffee that will kick start even the worst Monday.

For a smooth, never over-roasted cup of coffee, try Common Grounds, located alongside Dixie Highway, just south of Belvedere Road. Owners Justin and Kelly Olive have been roasting coffee and creating a welcoming community since 2014, and have expanded the cafe to three locations across eastern Palm Beach County.

Walking into the east entrance of the Southern Publix, a clue to the local secret coffee spot will be the groups of men standing just outside the sliding doors, chatting in the morning hours, small to-go cups in their hands. Beyond the entrance is a small counter where cafe con leche, cortaditos, and even americanos can be ordered. There is also a small selection of Cuban pastries available. The Cuban coffee is strong and delicious here.

Paige Meers opened Morning Magnolia out of a cute custom trailer across from Langford Park in Jensen Beach in December 2020. Three years later she opened her second location south of downtown West Palm Beach next to Norcross gift shop.Morning Magnolia is known for its specialty-themed iced lattes, the most recent being the Taylor Swift latte, an iced white chocolate latte with ube cold foam, topped with edible glitter and butterflies. Morning commuters can also make a quick pit stop for pop-tarts from Tribe Kitchen in Stuart, and other baked goods from Aioli.

Before Subculture and all the coffee shops that followed in its wake, there was Havana. Open since 1993, Havana is a little bit south of downtown West Palm Beach on Dixie but worth the drive. Walk up to its 24-hour window for a cafe con leche or cortadito. Also sold at the window are Cuban pastries, sandwiches, and a small selection of fresh juices. While Havana Restaurant also offers an inside dining room, life happens at the walk-up window. It’s an experience not to be missed.
